Four days after a hijacked jet slammed into the north tower of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, Cantor Fitzgerald LP Chief Executive Officer Howard Lutnick stopped paychecks to nearly 700 missing employees.

``I lost everybody in the company,'' Lutnick said, weeping during a televised interview with CNN's Larry King. ``I don't have any money to pay their salaries.''
