America Online entered the world of web-delivered music on June 1 with a $400 million stock purchase of two online music companies. Spinner Networks will help AOL provide music across AOL, AOL.com, CompuServe, Netcenter, and ICQ. Nullsoft will let AOL users download music over the Internet. The deals are part of AOL's strategy of allying with popular Web sites and services. In May, AOL bought MovieFone, and in March it announced a new co-branded site with eBay.
