Mexican Newspaper Strike

-- Mexico's powerful newspaper distribution union is refusing to handle Reforma, the country's largest independent newspaper. The fight started over the newspaper's insistence that vendors work on holidays. But observers think the union is working hand-in-hand with the government to discipline the country's most influential and outspoken newspaper. Scores of prominent intellectuals and politicians have been selling the newspaper themselves at major intersections. Mexico's year-old Anti-Monopoly Commission has agreed to study the case.
