Bloomberg's Move Into Tv News

Michael Bloomberg continues to expand his empire. Coming on Jan. 4: a 15-minute business-news show on public television. The former Salomon Brothers trader launched his securities-data service in 1981, his news service in 1990. So far, the only one to sign up for TV's Bloomberg Business News is its producer, Maryland Public Television. But that should change, says Maryland system head Raymond Ho, because the 300 PBS stations that now run his 15-minute A.M. Weather will want something to round out a half-hour.
The new show has a multimedia twist: About one-third of the 31,000 Bloomberg data terminals can tap into still photos and audio from the program. Says Bloomberg: "The sound's not the greatest quality, but you can listen to it."
