A Harvard University student charged last year with sending false bomb threats to get out of taking an exam will have his prosecution deferred if a judge approves it, federal prosecutors said.

Eldo Kim, 21, will have to complete 750 hours of community service, pay restitution to the agencies that responded to the bomb hoax, make a public apology, and spend four months confined at home, U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz in Boston said today in a statement. If Kim complies with these terms, the single charge against him will be dropped in 18 months, according to the statement.
