Ghana denied that there is religious conflict in the country after reports that some of its citizens that traveled to Brazil for the World Cup are seeking asylum.

“The basis for this alleged request is completely false as no religious conflict is taking place in Ghana,” Deputy Information Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu said in an e-mailed statement. “Ghana’s mission in Brazil has been instructed to liaise with the Brazilian authorities to investigate the matter.”
