The London producers of the hit play “War Horse” don’t have to rehire five musicians who were replaced with a pre-recorded soundtrack, a U.K. court ruled.

Reinstating the five wind-instrument players could interfere with the Royal National Theatre’s artistic freedom, Justice Ross Cranston said in a judgment in London yesterday, refusing their request to order the theater to use them in productions ahead of trial. The musicians can sue for damages, the judge said.
