Tanzanian Gold Exports Increase by 13%, Central Bank Says

Gold exports from Tanzania, which vies with Mali as Africa’s third-largest producer of the precious metal, climbed to $1.7 billion in the year through June from $1.5 billion a year earlier, the central bank said.

The current-account deficit, the widest measure of trade in goods and services, expanded to $2.76 billion in the period from $2.56 billion previously, the Dar es Salaam-based Bank of Tanzania said in a statement on its website today.
