Indian Utilities Quarterly Coal Use Rises 7%, India Coal Says

Coal consumption by India’s power utilities rose 7 percent to 98.24 million metric tons in the quarter ended June 30, India Coal Market Watch said in a note, citing provisional data by the Central Electricity Authority.

Power companies received 30.24 million tons in June compared with 30.1 million a year earlier, according to the note. Imported coal last month climbed to 3.4 million tons from 2.07 million a year earlier. Domestic supplies fell in June, it said.
