Niger’s Badie, Second in Command in Junta, Has Been Arrested

Colonel Abdoulaye Badie, the second in comand in Niger’s military government, was arrested yesterday and is being detained at the army’s headquarters, two military officials with knowledge of the arrest said.
Badie served as permanent secretary of the Supreme Council for the Restoration of Democracy, the name of the junta, until Oct. 10 when General Djibo Salou abolished the post.
