Born in 1967, Huang graduated from Hefei University of Technology, according to CATL's prospectus for an initial public offering in 2018.
He was the research and development director at an energy company in southern China from 2004 to 2009 before becoming it's vice president. In 012, he began working in CATL and has served different roles including general manager, director and vice-chairman.
The Ningde, China-based company reported revenue of 29.4 billion yuan ($4.5 billion) in 2018. It began trading publicly on the Shenzhen exchange on June 11, 2018.
