Storonsky's fortune is derived from his calculated stake of almost 20% in closely held Revolut, which has raised more than $1 billion from investors. It provides low-fee transfers in more than 30 currencies and has about 70 million customers worldwide, according to its website.

The financial services startup received a $75 billion valuation during a September 2025 share sale to provide employee liquidity, according to a Bloomberg News report. The valuation for Storonsky was updated on Sept. 2, 2025, leading to a rise in the net worth calculation of about $5.6 billion.

A spokesperson for Revolut declined to comment on Storonsky's stake.

Biography

Education: New Economic School, Moscow Institute of Physics & Technology

Storonsky was born in Russia in 1984 and was a competitive swimmer in his youth. He began studying physics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 2001 and completed an economics degree, also in Moscow, in 2007.

In 2006, Storonsky began work as an equity derivatives trader at Lehmann Brothers. Two years later, he would take a similar role at Credit Suisse, where he would remain until 2013.

Storonsky and Vlad Yatsenko co-founded Revolut in London in 2015. By 2018, the fintech company had become a unicorn after a $250 million funding round.

An $800 million raising from investors including SoftBank Group Corp.'s Vision Fund 2 and Tiger Global Management led to a $33 billion valuation in 2021 and made the company the UK's most valuable startup.
