Aleotti's fortune is derived from her family's ownership of Menarini Group, Italy's largest pharmaceutical maker. The closely held company had revenue of 4.9 billion euros ($5.5 billion), 17,800 employees and 18 manufacturing sites in 2025, according to a company presentation.
Menarini is family owned, according to a UK-based subsidiary's website. Company filings show Menarini to be controlled by the Aleotti family holding company Pharmafin. Its owners are Massimiliana Landini and her children Benedetta Aleotti, Lucia Aleotti and Alberto Giovanni Aleotti.
Menarini is valued using reported financial results and the average enterprise value-to-Ebit, enterprise value-to-Ebitda and enterprise value-to-sales multiples of three publicly traded peers: Recordati Industria Chimica e Farmaceutica SpA, Almirall SA and Ipsen SA.
Massimiliana Landini Aleotti was born on Aug. 7, 1942.
Her company, Menarini Group, was founded as Farmacia Internazionale Menarini in Naples, Italy in 1886. It moved to Florence in 1915.
Alberto Aleotti, Massimiliana's husband, joined Menarini in 1964 as a general manager. He's been credited with overseeing the company's growth and international expansion. Alberto died in 2014, shortly after handing over management responsibilities to his daughter Lucia and son Alberto Giovanni.
Since 2014, the company has remained as a family owned enterprise.
