Jaisinghani was born in 1953.
His father, Thakurdas Jaisinghani, was originally from Pakistan but moved to India where he opened an electrical products store in 1964. In 1968, Thakurdas died suddenly and his three sons, including his then 15-year-old son Inder Jaisinghani, took over the business.
In the 1970s, the brothers set-up a manufacturing facility in order to make cables and wires, and it was incorporated as Polycab Industries in 1983.
Further growth followed and by 2013 Polycab has entered the 'switches' market. Soon after it began producing fans and LED lighting.
The company held an initial public offering in 2019.
