The value of his cash is based on an analysis of insider transactions, dividends, taxes and market performance.
Feng Li, a spokesman for the company, didn't respond to a request for comment on the net worth calculation.
Born in 1968, Li worked as a sales manager after graduating from university. He founded an electrical industrial company in 1993 and later became director of an electrical power company in Shenyang, northeastern China, according to company filing.
Li invested in Longi in August 2003, and served as a director of the company since 2007. Longi started publicly trading in Shanghai in 2012 and it's expanded over the years. It became the world's largest solar panel components manufacturer, according to its website.
Li left Longi's board in 2018 and sold the majority of his stake in December 2020 to Hillhouse Capital, according to a company disclosure.
