Clean CR Republicans Plus Democrats Have Votes to End Shutdown

A continuing resolution (CR) is legislation that Congress could approve to fund the government and end the shutdown. Several Republicans have publicly expressed support for a CR or “stopgap spending” or an “opportunity to just fully fund the government.” Assuming all House Democrats would vote for a clean (no restrictions or amendments) CR, the Democrats would need the support from 17 Republicans to gain approval. House Speaker John Boehner would need to consent to the vote and so far he has not indicated he would do so.
