Poll Shows UK Public Divided Over When Starmer Should Resign

New polling by Ipsos shows that two in three Britons believe UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer should not lead the Labour Party into the next general election. But they are divided on whether he should resign immediately or sometime between now and the next election. Keiran Pedley, Director of UK Politics at Ipsos joined Lizzy Burden on Bloomberg Daybreak Europe. He said the public are the most pessimistic they have been about the economy for 48 years, and that voters are looking for an "answer" to the cost of living crisis, an issue that Labour "has to grapple with". Labour is headed for a divisive leadership battle. Former Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner has been cleared of deliberate wrongdoing by an investigation into her tax affairs and is preparing for a potential leadership bid while allies of Health Secretary Wes Streeting said he was likely to quit his post this week and launch a bid to replace Starmer as Labour leader.
