US Jobless Claims Hold Steady, 3Q GDP Expands at 4.4%
Applications for US unemployment benefits steadied at low levels as initial claims increased by 1,000 to 200,000 in the week ended Jan. 17. The US economy expanded by slightly more than initially reported in the third quarter, as inflation-adjusted gross domestic product, increased at a revised 4.4% annualized rate, the fastest in two years.
