Wood Sees Private Markets Meltdown If There’s a US Slump

“If there is a real US downturn, what blows up in America is private equity, private credit,” according to Jefferies’ global head of equity strategy Christopher Wood. He made the comments in an interview on Bloomberg Television. Shares of the largest US private markets firms, including KKR, Ares and Apollo, fell sharply following President Donald Trump’s tariff announcement earlier this month.
