Banks in Greece Have ‘Excess Capital,’ Eurobank CEO Says
Eurobank Ergasias Services and Holdings CEO Fokion Karavias said Monday during a panel organized by Bloomberg that Greek banks have "excess capital" and they will use it to finance growth, pay some back to investors and to look for acquisitions. Karavias also cited purchases in Bulgaria and Cyprus in recent years as evidence that Greek banks are becoming active consolidators.
