BNP Paribas CFO on Profits, Volatility, ECB
BNP Paribas Chief Financial Officer Lars Machenil said volatility including elections supported the results in the second quarter. Profit rose on surging equities trading revenues, giving a boost to the chief executive officer's plan to raise profitability. BNP Paribas is still looking to ‘redeploy’ the 7 billion euros of capital they got from the sale of Bank of the West, though the CFO declined to comment on possible €1.4 trillion ($ 1.52 trillion) joint venture with Axa in asset management. Machenil spoke with Bloomberg’s Caroline Connan.
