Why No One Smokes In Sweden
As nations around the world try to reduce smoking rates, Sweden has become a case study in how it can happen. As of 2022, only 5.6% of the population still smoked, the lowest percentage in Europe. Many credit “snus,” small nicotine-filled pouches placed under the lip. Snus makers argue they’re safer than cigarettes, but policymakers and health advocates remain divided over their use.
