Digital Dollar Could Overwhelm Local Currencies, Rajan Says
Former IMF chief economist Raghuram Rajan says a digital U.S. dollar would pose a risk to local currencies in countries with low levels of confidence in macroeconomic policy. “That means that that country no longer has monetary sovereignty,” said Rajan said in an interview on Bloomberg Television. “Some other country has taken over, and as a result, it has fewer tools to deal with economic growth.” (Source: AccuWeather)
