00:00So far what are the changes that are taking place in France today. So France is taking a quite too radical approach when it comes to encouraging people to get vaccinated especially after making his TV address last week. So these measures will come into effect today. But the real change will also come in August when these health bars will be required to access restaurants bars and long train journeys and visit people in the hospitals or caring homes. And also vaccination will become mandatory for all these people in contact with the public or with elderly people in hospitals and nursing homes. This will be from September. Things get complicated when you think that it is the middle of the summer season in France. People are already starting to go on the honey days. So obviously restaurant owners and people in the tourism industry have been protesting. You've seen some demonstrations across the country last weekend. About 100000 people demonstrating. But globally about 60 percent of the French population is in favor of this new requirement especially at a time when the Delta Valiant represents about 80 percent of new cases in France. Yesterday in France there were 18000 new cases compared to 7000 last week. So how does that picture and the passport the vaccine passports some of these other implementations being put in. How does that compare elsewhere in Europe for example are we seeing Germany or Italy follow a similar path. In Germany some restrictions have been lifted but could be tightened again of course depending on the spread of the Delta volume. But interestingly Italy could actually afford or France taking a similar path. The Italian government is debating this week whether they should also extend their green pass keen to restaurants and bars and train a Johnnies. And a decision could come in Italy as soon as the end of this week. Some other European countries including Portugal and Greece have also introduced some QR codes some proof of vaccination or a negative test to access restaurants. However in Germany the German chancellor Angela Merkel for now has ruled out making vaccination mandatory for those in contact with the fragile public. But clearly one thing all these countries have in common is that they are watching very closely what is happening in the U.K. with the Delta Valiant.

Macron’s Push to Get France Vaccinated

The first part of Emmanuel Macron’s plan to pressure the French population to become vaccinated goes live. Health passes are also required for entry to cultural ventures.
