Before last year, China imported about 40% of U.S. recyclables. But a recent import ban on over two dozen recyclables has researchers estimating 111M metric tons of plastic will be left with nowhere to go. Students at M.I.T’s Computer Science and Artificial Learning lab have developed a robot that can identify and sort recyclables dubbed "RoCycle" that could help sort through the pile up.
