After 20 Years, China’s Auto Sales Sputter Into Reverse
The growth engine for the world’s car industry has been thrown into reverse. China recorded its first yearly fall in auto sales in more than two decades, the victim of slowing GDP growth and the U.S.-China trade war. Tesla's Elon Musk’s visit coincided with the news as he broke ground on a Shanghai factory. Premier Li Keqiang said he hopes Musk can help thaw bilateral ties.
