You Probably Will Make Less Money This Year

You're probably going to be paid less next year. A new survey says companies are now handing out smaller bonuses and raises. In 2017, companies set aside almost 16% of their budgets for total compensation packages. By 2019, that number will be down about 1%. Normally employers hand out fatter bonuses when the economy is doing well, like it is now. Bosses like bonuses because they are flexible and don't have to be given every year. But not getting a raise is usually a tougher pill to swallow for workers. Since the recession, companies have shied away from raises because they're afraid of another downturn. (Source: Bloomberg)
