Brexit Day Marked With Lights, Parties and Protests
From Parliament Square to Brandenburg Gate, crowds gathered to mark the historic day.
Britain's departure from the European Union was as divisive as the three-and-a-half years of acrimonious political debate that preceded it. Downing Street marked the occasion with a countdown clock and light show, while supporters held a rally outside Parliament. Commemorative tea towels and coins were offered for sale.
Brexit opponents, meanwhile, held their own vigils, with one even projecting a pro-EU message onto the White Cliffs of Dover.
