Oil-Sands Pipeline to the Atlantic
The Energy East pipeline will carry 1.1 million barrels of crude oil per day about 4,600 kilometers (2,858 miles) from Alberta’s oil sands to eastern Canadian refineries and marine terminals for export. Spanning six Canadian provinces and four time zones, the C$12 billion ($11 billion) Energy East project would include the conversion of an existing 1950s-era natural gas pipeline to an oil conduit, as well as new construction, to start carrying crude in 2018.
