Tracking Hilary’s Latest Path

On Sunday, Tropical Storm Hilary was bringing rain across Southern California and the Southwest, as it was moving north from Mexico, after making landfall at around 11 a.m., US West Coast time. Catastrophic and life-threatening flooding was likely over the region, through Monday, the National Weather Center said. In the last 10 years, freshwater flooding was responsible for a majority of hurricane-related fatalities in the US.

Heavy rainfall was expected in Southern California and Nevada, including Los Angeles, San Diego and Las Vegas. Hilary is expected to produce rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches, with isolated maximums at 10 inches, peaking on Sunday and possibly lasting through Monday, the NWC’s current advisory said.
