Strike Possible Without Canadian Auto Settlement: Unifor
This month, Unifor enters into contract negotiations with the Detroit three automakers - General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler - on behalf of 23,000 auto workers ahead of the contract expiration in September. According to union president Jerry Dias, the focus is securing investment for three Ontario plants that are at risk of closing within the next few years. In an interview with Bloomberg TV Canada's Amanda Lang, Dias says he has 'nothing to lose' and will do everything he can to stop the exodus of auto jobs to Mexico, even if it means strike action.
