Fixing Your Commute: The End of the Traffic Jam

In the course of your life, you’ll spend an average of three months sitting in traffic. The U.S. economy loses $160 billion a year to lost productivity and wasted fuel. Traffic is responsible for 15,000 kilotons of added CO2 to the atmosphere. And here’s the good news—it’s only going to get worse. By 2030, the number of cars on the world’s roads is expected to double. If we don’t do something about it, traffic—itself a byproduct of progress—will start clogging our cities and highways to such a degree that future progress will grind to a halt. Fortunately, some people are trying to do something about it. From the jungles of Panama, to the test tracks of Detroit, to the underground tunnels of London, this special episode of Unsolvable spans the globe to find the innovators who are developing strange, radical and unexpected solutions to traffic that will keep the world moving in the 21st century.
