Why the World Has to Play by U.S. Rules
The U.S. dollar has maintained a central role in global trade and finance, requiring banks around the world to adhere to U.S. rules and oversight. The euro, which some expected to topple the dollar, has only taken over the market share of the European currencies it replaced.
