Bloomberg photographer Bartek Sadowski received second place in the “People” category of the Grand Press Photo 2014 contest for his portrait of former Russian oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky. The competition recognizes Polish photographers working globally and is judged by the winner of the World Press Photo competition. Sadowski shot Khodorkovsky in December 2013 after getting only three hours’ notice that he needed to drive from Poland to Berlin for the interview. The interview took place three days after Khodorkovsky was released from prison. This is Sadowski’s second Grand Press Photo award. He received first place in the “Sport” category in 2005.
