The growing popularity of Over-The-Top (OTT) video is changing the dynamics of the TV landscape and the media industry as a whole. It is impacting video consumption patterns, content production and distribution models.

During the “Up and Over: Understanding Trends in the OTT Ecosystem” webinar, US Director of Research and Senior Media Analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence Paul Sweeney, and Head of TV Distribution / Americas Brad Samuels took an in-depth look at the trends and opportunities shaping the OTT industry. The webinar, which took place on Thursday, June 22, 12 p.m. EDT, offered an overview of the traditional cable or satellite pay TV ecosystem, the characteristics and audiences of OTT, and Bloomberg’s response to an increasingly competitive multi-platform video market.

“OTT is on everybody’s radar these days. It’s a hot topic in the media and TV business,” explained Samuels. With the rise of broadband Internet, the growth of social media, the evolving viewing habits of millennials and their engagement with user-generated content, OTT is quickly gaining ground.
