On February 22, Bloomberg Content Service launched its news discovery platform for clients. Naadia Quader, Head of Product, spearheaded the redesign. We sat down with Naadia to get her take on how the new interface can make clients more successful.
Q&A 18 April 2016

Q: What is the most interesting part about what you do?
Naadia: My team and I are focused on designing solutions to allow our clients to be more successful. Our clients need content–content is king; however, a key requirement now is the ability to access a variety of content across different media types: broadcast, photos, print, digital text, data.
For this you need an optimized distribution mechanism, and client access needs to be both seamless and tailored to client needs.
Q: What are the client challenges you look to solve?
Naadia: Through engaging design, we want to remove friction for our clients. We understand their time constraints. They are busy and need assets quickly and accurately. The new platform allows our clients to find relevant Bloomberg news and visual media faster than ever before. Clients can seamlessly see the depth of Bloomberg content available and easily discover all the related assets. All of this is now available at the speed of breaking news, with elegance and accuracy.
Q: What is the biggest change to the platform? Why do you think this is important?
Naadia: Our focus is usability and “discoverability” of content across news and associated media. With the design changes to our user interface (UI), we can deliver a customized solution to clients across many different verticals: digital newsrooms, corporations, publishers, out of home media, etc.
Specifically, the new platform incorporates intuitive search techniques for discovery of content via a web browser. And, the platform allows clients to “use” rich metadata feeds not only to customize the content they see, but also to slice and dice content however they need.
Q: How does your team work to make clients more successful?
Naadia: Clients are our first priority. From understanding their work-flow, to addressing unique regional needs, we strive to understand our clients’ business. It depends on how hands-on a client needs us to be. Our product operations and client services teams regularly provide customized training services, but they also set up and automate complex queries for clients.
