Ron Rhoades, Finra Critic

A Finra critic says the organization is no friend of investors.

On this week’s Masters in Business radio podcast, we speak with attorney and Western Kentucky University professor Ron Rhoades. Rhoades, an expert on regulation of asset-management firms, discussed the basics of the fiduciary standard and the ethics of asset management.

Rhoades, who has frequently testified before Congress, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Labor, has been a vocal critic of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, challenging many of its policies as anti-investor. He helped to turn back Finra’s attempt to oversee registered investment advisers, and he has been highly critical of the organization’s reliance on mandatory arbitration to settle disputes.
