An astonishing 212 new vodka varieties were introduced to the world in the past year, according to Deirdre Mahlan, who helps oversee the Smirnoff and Ketel One brands as the chief financial officer ofDiageo Plc. As my colleague Matthew Boyle suggested on Twitter after listening to a conference call on the company's earnings today, there seems to be a bubble in vodka.

So the Trade of the Day is to get yourself a shot of vodka -- before sanctions against Russian alcohol kick in.
