The Future of Commuting: Ritholtz Chart
TRAVIC is a transit visualization tool. With it, anyone on the Internet can track the movements of transit systems all over the world.
Movements are shown by using a combination of static data, such as schedules, and tracking data. To create a real-time visualization, the system integrates geospatial data, tracking the locations and movements of mass-transit vehicles. That is, to use a technical term, really cool.
I'm guessing a smart phone app for Apple's IOS and Android can't be far behind. It won't be long before a New York City commuter, wanting to know when the next Metro North, Long Island Rail Road or subway train is coming, can simply check his or her phone's TRAVIC app.
The future is pretty awesome.
