Oct. 4 (Bloomberg) –- President: Box-Office Division Paul Dergarabedian discusses October releases at the movies. He speaks with Adam Johnson and Trish Regan on Bloomberg Television's "Street Smart." (Source: Bloomberg) is back with us.

Let's start with "gravity or chair you have george clooney and sandra bullock together.

What do you think?

Alfonso cuaran, people are comparing this to stanley kubrick's "2001: a space odyssey ." this is the buzz surrounding this odyssey.

It almost feels like an art house movie.

It is esoteric and challenging.

These are the types of films i love in october because this is the fall movie season, not the summer movie season.

You're going to get these more challenging films yet i think this one will be a big hit for warner bros.

This weekend.

We are thinking $35 million to $40 million because you get that art-house look, big stars, great marketing campaign.

You think this will be the winner?

You also have "runner runner." who will take on the most box office receipts?

" gravity" will be the film to be.

"runner runner" looks interesting.

Ben affleck, justin timberlake.

That one could do well in the mid-teens are just under that.

Still a great alternative for those who are maybe not as interested in a family film this weekend and they want something different down the outer space chronicle that is "gravity." a lot of diversity.

You just said $11 million at the box office and that is one third of gravity.

Why that much less?

That is what the pre-release tracking is telling us but remember, this is not the seasons where you have to make all your money in the opening weekend.

And the fall, they tend to play longer.

If it gets word-of-mouth it can play for the long haul.

It's not just about striking in the opening weekend.

Gravity is so big and tracking so well because it has two big stars and a great pre-release buzz and reviews.

Once the audio start seeing it and going on facebook and twitter to talk about it it will really build this movie up.

A very interesting movie.

It sounds like 3-d is the way to go.

It will be and about one third of the theaters showing this movie?

That's right.

The totally immersive experience and imax delivers that as well where you are completely enveloped in the outer space environment.

Seeing movies in the theater is the best way but particularly for films like this that are set in outer space, certainly 2001: a spiceace odyssey is a revolution.

I will work well in its favor but october has a bunch of interesting films on the way beyond this.
