Purplebricks tries to disrupt the traditional estate agency model by charging a low fixed fee (from £798) for the sale of houses – normally something that would cost homeowners thousands of pounds. It was founded by brothers Michael and Kenny Bruce, who ran the estate agent Burchell Edwards before selling to Connells in 2011. The online platform lets individuals oversee the viewings, sale and offers on their property 24/7, with support from local experts at key points in the process. The company listed on the London Stock Exchange 19 months after launch with a valuation of £255 million.
