Sing Tao News Corporation Limited reported consolidated earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2017. For the year, the company reported revenue of HKD 1,511,864,000 against HKD 1,608,966,000 a year ago. Profit before tax was HKD 64,875,000 against HKD 44,384,000 a year ago. Profit for the year attributable to owners of the company was HKD 41,349,000 against HKD 33,822,000 a year ago. Basic and diluted earnings per share attributable to ordinary equity holders of the company were 4.77 cents against 3.91 cents a year ago. The Board of the company recommended a final dividend of 4 cents per ordinary share and a special dividend of 4 cents per ordinary share for the year ended December 31, 2017. Together with the interim dividend of 2 cents per ordinary share paid to shareholders on 22 September 2017, the total annual dividend will amount to 10 cents per ordinary share for the financial year. The proposed final dividend and special dividend, if approved at the forthcoming annual general meeting of the company to be held on 3 May 2018 will be payable on 18 May 2018. For the purpose of determining members who are entitled to the final dividend and special dividend, the register of members of the company will be closed on 10 May 2018 and 11 May 2018, on which dates no transfer of shares will be registered. The company paid 4 cents of ordinary dividend and 2 cents of special dividend for the same period last year.
