Malaysian Airline System Bhd Reports Revenue and Operating Results for the Third Quarter Ended September 30, 2017

Malaysian Airline System Bhd reported revenue and operating results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2017. For the quarter, the company reported the average seat per kilometre revenue rose 2% year-on-year, despite stiff competition, rising fuel price and adverse foreign exchange movement. For the quarter, the company’s load factors continued to remain stable at 77.5%, from 77.8% in second quarter, with revenue rising 3.5% despite the tough operating environment. Load factors for both international and domestic sectors were lower at 78.4% and 72.2%, respectively, compared with 79.1% and 80.2% in the same period last year.

Malaysia Airlines Denies Stake Sale

Malaysia Airlines Berhad has quashed rumours that it has options to offer minority shareholding to foreign airlines as part of its listing plan in 2019. Captain Izham Ismail, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airlines Berhad said,"MAB was currently reevaluating its listing plan, adding that the question was best answered at a later date." "There are no plans to offer a minority stake to foreign airlines. It's just a rumour," he said after officiating at the arrival of Malaysia Airlines' (MAS) first Airbus A350-900, here, on November 30, 2017.

Malaysia Airlines Mulls Stake Sale

Malaysia Airlines Berhad's Chief Executive Officer Peter Bellew recently stated that his company is exploring the option of having another airline on board by selling a strategic stake in the national carrier, among other measures, before its listing exercise that is slated to take place in 2019.
