Marcus Hotels & Resorts announced that Erin Levzow has been named vice president of marketing. In her new role, Levzow will oversee all marketing, e-commerce, customer insight, loyalty and public relations activities for the company. Marcus Hotels & Resorts also announced the appointment of Rajiv Castellino as chief technology officer. Prior to joining Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Levzow served as vice president of customer relationship marketing (CRM), loyalty and marketing for Hathway in Austin, Texas, a customer service experience company specializing in helping billion-dollar brands develop mobile-first strategies. Castellino joins Marcus Hotels & Resorts with nearly 25 years of experience in IT systems administration and strategy. Marcus Hotels & Resorts announced that it has added another property to its hotel portfolio after assuming management of the Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel in Chapel Hill, N.C., effective September 1, 2017. The Sheraton Chapel Hill features 168 guestrooms and suites, 16,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, an on-site restaurant, a fitness center and a seasonal outdoor pool and sun deck. The Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel is located within the Triangle region of North Carolina, which is anchored by the University of North Carolina, Duke University and North Carolina State University. The hotel serves students, professors, families and fans of the three prominent universities.

Marcus Hotels & Resorts announced unaudited revenue results for the second quarter and six months ended June 29, 2017. For the quarter, the company announced its revenue per available room (RevPAR) for comparable company-owned properties decreased 1.5%. The lower RevPAR for the second quarter was due in large part to the timing of the Easter holiday, which fell in April this year and negatively impacted group business.
For the six months, the company announced RevPAR was up 1.0%.
