EQT Has No Plans For Quick Exit From Ottobock

Private equity firm EQT Partners AB has no plans for a quick exit from either prosthetics maker Otto Bock HealthCare GmbH or hearing aids manufacturer Sivantos Group, EQT partner Marcus Brennecke said recently. “We have invested (in Sivantos for) two and a half years. Normally we hold investments for four to five years ... We have no plans to exit before the end of 2018,” Brennecke told a news briefing on Thursday. However, he said EQT would look at any good offers that came before then. Commenting on Ottobock, he said: “I see that in three years, at the earliest. We have to work with the majority owners and management for three, four, five years first.”
Bioness and Ottobock Announce Strategic European Distribution Partnership

Bioness Inc. and Ottobock together are partnering to expand distribution and access of functional electrical stimulation (FES) technologies in the European Union, UK, Switzerland, Norway, Turkey and India. The collaboration will combine technologies and resources to transform the mobility management paradigm, deliver medical solutions and expand product reach while improving the user experience. Ottobock will begin product commercialization within its Orthotics Division starting September 2017 and distribute Bioness' complete FES portfolio for the lower (L300 Go System) and upper extremities (H200 Wireless® System). Bioness and Ottobock share many mutual customers; this strategic partnership will enable both organizations to improve technology access as well as enhance the healthcare provider and patient experience.
Ottobock Reportedly Attracts Interest From PE Firms

Otto Bock HealthCare GmbH has attracted interest from private equity groups including KKR & Co. L.P. (NYSE:KKR) and CVC Capital Partners Limited for a 20% stake in its core business, people familiar with the matter. The suitors for the stake in its core healthcare division also include BC Partners and Advent International Corporation, the people told Reuters.
