Zilog Introduces the ZNEO32! 32-Bit Cost Effective MCU Product Family

Zilog announced the Z32F0642 a new Cortex-M0 32-bit MCU. A cost effective and high performance microcontroller that is ideal for motor control applications, this product family expands Zilogs portfolio of ZNEO32! 32-bit products. The Z32F0642 MCU features 64KB of Flash memory, 4KB of SRAM, and operating frequencies up to 40MHz. It offers a 3-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) generator unit suitable for inverter motor drive systems. A built-in 3-phase PWM generator can control one inverter motor. One 12-bit high-speed analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with 12-channel analog multiplexed inputs is included to gather feedback from the motor. There are multiple powerful external serial interfaces (1-channel SPI, 1-channel I2C, and 2-channel UARTs) to communicate with on-board sensors and devices. The Z32F0642 can operate from a supply voltage ranging from 2.2V to 5.5V. Other features include free run timer, watchdog timer, on-chip RC-oscillator, power on reset, GPIOs, hardware divider, and brownout detector. This new MCU is available in a 32-pin (10-channel ADC) or 48-pin (12-channel ADC) low profile quad flat package (LQFP).
Zilog® Announces New Single-Chip 2.4 GHz RF Transceiver for Wireless ZigBee and IoT Connectivity

Zilog introduced its RadioPulse MG2420 Transceiver, a single-chip 2.4 GHz RF Transceiver thereby expanding its portfolio of RadioPulse wireless technology solutions. Zilog's MG2420 is a low-power 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee compliant radio transceiver. Its operation frequency covers an ISM band of 2.4 '2.48 GHz. In addition to the standard data rate specified in IEEE802.15.4, the MG2420 provides enhanced multiple data rates with channel coding (1 to 3 Mbps). This transceiver can be controlled by an external microcontroller and its operations configured through a high speed Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). The MG2420 has ultra-low power consumption, 15.4 mA in the receiver (Rx) mode and 16.1 mA in the transmitter (Tx) mode with 0 dBm output power. The MG2420's high data rate utilization (3 Mbps) helps minimize transmission and reception time, leading to further reduction in power consumption. When developing various types of systems, the engineering community often looks for an effective, well-designed RF transceiver, which provides the flexibility vital for the design. Zilog's MG2420, a single-chip RF transceiver in a compact 4x4x0.85 mm package, meets this requirement. It includes an RF front-end, VCO, PLL, digital block including baseband modem, MAC, power management, and a high speed SPI. The MG2420 core operates at 1.2V, and its I/O pin voltages can range from 1.8V to 3.6V. There are several on-chip voltage regulators to separately power the analog and digital blocks. The current consumption is just under one microamp in the power saving Deep Sleep mode. Also, no external T/R switch and filter are needed since the bidirectional differential RF pins are used. Other key features include Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS), MSK (O-QPSK) modulation, digital RSSI output, two 256-byte FIFOs, AES-128 engine, and automatic ACK transmission.
Zilog Announces New ZMOTION Occupancy Sensor Reference Design

Zilog introduced its new ZMOTION Occupancy Sensor reference design, expanding its portfolio of motion sensing and control technology products. Zilog’s ZMOTION Occupancy Sensor reference design demonstrates the use of its ZMOTION MCU (part number Z8FS040BHH20EG) and key IXYS components as a passive infrared (PIR) sensor-based motion detector lighting system that can operate in two modes – occupancy mode and vacancy mode. Both modes can use either PWM or 1–10 V interfaces to control dimmable light ballasts. These ballasts typically drive fluorescent/compact fluorescent (CFL), high intensity discharge (HID), or high power LED lighting. A 9-position DIP switch enables configuration of parameters such as sensitivity, delay time, dim level, pass through mode, vacancy mode, and occupancy mode. Additional functionality includes ambient light detection, AC power control, and ZMOTION’s advanced Pass Through and Hyper Sense features. A status LED indicator is provided for motion detection and external wiring fault detection. This reference design supports ZMOTION L200 development kit lenses.
