Universal Service Fund (USF) entered in contracts worth PKR 3.72 billion in total with Ufone to provide Mobile Broadband Internet/3G services in Khuzdar and Chagai areas in Balochistan. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing between USF and NTC was also held at the event with regards to establishment of telecentres. Telecentres will be providing e-services, distance learning and create employment opportunities, among various other benefits like bridging the digital divide.

Ufone has appointed Younas Iqbal Sheikh as its chief commercial officer (CCO). In his new position, Sheikh will lead Ufone's marketing and sales departments, as well as the company's business development. Sheikh most recently served as chief officer of sales and distribution for Pakistan Telecommunications Mobile.
