Indianapolis Power & Light Co. opened the new IPL Advancion Energy Storage Array Facility located at the Harding Street Generation Station. The Advancion Array is the first grid-scale, battery-based energy storage system to make a footprint in the 15-state Midcontinent Independent System Operation (MISO) region, which will provide affordable and reliable power for the customers. The facility will lower emissions by enabling more efficient dispatch of existing generating assets and support the ongoing integration of renewable power sources.

On June 1, 2016, Rafael Sanchez was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL). Mr. Sanchez succeeds Kenneth J. Zagzebski, who had been appointed interim President and Chief Executive Officer of IPL on July 1, 2015. Mr. Zagzebski continues to serve as the President and Chief Executive Officer of IPALCO and as a director of both IPL and IPALCO. Rafael is a highly respected business and community leader and joined IPL in February as Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning. Prior to IPL, Rafael was a partner at Bingham Greenebaum Doll, LLP and he was also Vice President of Business Development & Legal Affairs for Fineline Printing Group.
