Within the information services sector, the firm prefers to invest in human resource and knowledge management, payments and transaction processing, digital media and marketing, digital publishing, mobile media access, software-as-a-service, communication services, software transaction platforms, and other disruptive technologies. It typically invests in the Southeast United States and Texas but will consider other geographic areas. The firm considers equity investments between $0.25 million and $5 million and mezzanine investments between $1 million and $10 million in companies with revenues of at least $10 million. Mezzanine financing is provided in the form of subordinated debt with warrants to purchase an equity ownership position. The firm prefers to be the leading institutional investor and seeks a position on the Board of Directors for seed, start-up, and early stage company, typically takes a minority position in later stage, and seeks either a seat on the board of directors or observation rights for mezzanine financing.
