Wolters Kluwer Health Launches UpToDate Advanced to Target Unwarranted Variations in Care with Interactive Clinical Decision-Making
Feb 27 18
Wolters Kluwer Health announced the launch of UpToDate Advanced, a guided clinical decision-making solution with dynamic and interactive algorithms as well as lab monographs designed to reduce unwarranted variations in care. Facing shrinking reimbursements and over $540 billion in avoidable costs1 in the U.S. alone, healthcare organizations are turning to trusted evidence and tools that standardize clinical decisions across populations while reducing costs. Clinical pathways aimed at helping caregivers deliver consistent, high-quality, and effective care can be difficult to develop and maintain. In addition, their adoption can pose a considerable challenge. UpToDate Advanced equips providers with continuously updated decision pathways that optimize decisions at the point of care by providing recommendations tailored for specific patients helping to achieve effective care. With UpToDate Advanced, physicians can streamline care at different points using UpToDate Pathways for interactive decision-making workflows and Lab Interpretation for evaluating abnormal test results and deciding next steps, which can be a major source of variations in care. UpToDate Pathways are interactive decision-making tools that help clinicians arrive at the best decisions for their patients in view of contemporary evidence, clinical experience and patient-specific factors. They are built upon the evidence and graded recommendations found in UpToDate, the acclaimed clinical decision support resource associated with improved outcomes. More than 11,000 clinical topics, medical calculators and graphics from UpToDate were used to develop pathways. UpToDate Pathways target common medical conditions with well-established variability that can be avoided with the support of evidence-based clinical decision-making. These conditions tie to national and international quality measures and the most-searched UpToDate topics among the more than half a billion topics viewed annually by 1.5 million physicians around the world.

Wolters Kluwer Health Unveils New Quizzing Tool
Nov 9 17
Wolters Kluwer Health unveiled a quizzing engine that delivers personalized learning and on-the-go insights to support how, when and where today’s medical students want to learn. The powerful quizzing tool allows students to track progress, view results and build customized quizzes to focus their training on specific subjects, topics or areas of weakness. It’s an important addition to contemporary medical education, which supports mobile access and tailors content to ensure medical students and residents more easily learn and retain information that prepares them for clinical practice. This highly intuitive, interactive quizzing engine is available as part of the LWW Health Library, a proven online platform providing immediate and searchable access to the most widely used evidence-based textbooks, case studies, multi-media and self-assessment for medical, pharmacy and other health sciences educational programs. The new quizzing capability delivers value to medical and allied health educators and students alike by moving beyond the traditional static quizzing models that are less effective with next-generation medical students. Students can quiz themselves, with the flexibility to simulate a timed test-taking experience at high or granular levels depending on what they want and need, with analytics that track performance results. Quiz results are also stored on the student’s personal dashboard, which provides cumulative, cross-subject, topic, and sub-topic metrics that allow them to track progress over time and identify areas of strength and weakness, so study time is spent efficiently.
